Explosion-proofinclinometer sensor

Explosion-proof inclinometer

Explosion-proof device featuring a 3D high precision inclinometer sensor.

This device is designed to measure tilt angles with great accuracy. This device is based on Murata's SCL3300 sensor. That sensor works with a 3D accelerometer precise enough to give you a 0.01° accuracy when measuring an angle. Beware this device doesn't feature any compass. You can measure tilt angles, but horizontal orientation is not available.

The Ex Inclinometer can be installed in any position: Reference frame changes are handled by the device. The device will automatically compute tilt angles, no extra computing is required in the application.

The device can be split, allowing to move the sensor part away, on a moving part for instance.

The module contains three inclinometers: the first two provide the orientation of the module with regards to the horizon, along axes X and Y. The third one provides you with the angle between the plane of the module and the vertical. In other words, if you want to know of how much your module tilts, use the third inclinometer. If you want to know in which direction it tilts, use the first two.

On top of the three inclinometers, the Ex Inclinometer has a few additional features:

Accelerometer: The SCL3300 is in fact based on a 3D accelerometer, that is a set of three orthogonal accelerometers. The module publishes the acceleration values on the three axes as well as the norm of the acceleration vector undergone by the module.

Temperature sensor: As the SCL3300 compensates for temperature, it embeds an internal temperature sensor and the Ex Inclinometer publishes its value

Note: To use the Ex Inclinometer in a hazardous area, the device must be protected to at least IP 65, so it must be placed inside the enclosure.

Ex Inclinometer don’t require any special drivers or software. Compatible with Windows, Mac OS, Android and Linux and easy to drive from a maximum of programming languages.

The Ex Inclinometer is connected through an industrial USB 2.0 connector to an intrinsically safe barrier Ex USB 2.0.

The Ex Inclinometers have a “hot-plug” function which allows them to be connected and disconnected without stopping, shutting down or rebooting the system.
