Explosion-proof microscopes are designed for use in hazardous industrial areas of zones 0, 1 and 2 where there is a risk of explosion, e.g. when working with flammable substances present in high concentrations as gas, mist or vapor.
In hazardous areas, microscopes can be used to monitor the growth of microorganisms that utilize hydrogen as an energy source or to examine equipment surfaces for possible micro-cracks and defects in material, such as those caused by hydrogen embrittlement.
