High-Performance Gigabit Connectivity for Hazardous Environments
Experience the next generation of industrial networking with the HydITEx Ex Ethernet 1000 (S/UTP Cat5e). Engineered for high-risk zones and extreme climates, this cable redefines Physical Layer reliability. Featuring our proprietary Adaptive Compression Technology, it ensures total gas-tight sealing and flameproof integrity without the need for complex barrier glands. From Arctic freezes of –60°C to the intense desert heat and UV radiation of the Middle East up to +180°C, HydITEx provides a stable, 1 Gbps bridge for your most critical IIoT and cyber-physical infrastructures.
The cabling infrastructure of hazardous facilities is a critical element of the data transmission system, determining the stability and reliable operation of the Physical Layer (Layer 1). In modern industrial environments implementing IIoT and high-speed monitoring, cable requirements extend beyond simple signal transmission. The cable must serve as a robust physical barrier, preventing the propagation of industrial disasters.
The HydITEx UTP Cat5e cable, specifically designed for use in explosive atmospheres, is capable of operating at frequencies up to 100 MHz and providing data transfer speeds up to 1 Gbps. The total segment length (including intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe sections) reaches up to 102 meters, an industry benchmark for Industrial Ethernet.
The primary innovation of this cable is the move away from traditional rigid compounds in favor of Elastic Compression Technology for soft silicone elements.
Sealing Mechanics: The twisted pair conductors are insulated with specialized soft silicone. During production, when the outer jacket is applied under high pressure, these soft elements are tightly compressed, deforming to fill all inter-shell voids.
Anti-Breathing Effect: This "mutual nesting" of conductors eliminates free air channels inside the cable. This completely prevents the passage of air or explosive gases through internal cavities (the "breathing effect").
Ex d Direct Entry: These design features allow for direct cable entry into flameproof Ex d enclosures via standard cable glands without the need for barrier glands or additional sealing with mastics or compounds.
To ensure gigabit speeds amidst heavy industrial interference, the twisted pair conductors are tightly twisted together and further compressed by a tightly wound braid of fine metallic wires.
This shield acts as an effective barrier, protecting the transmitted signal from external electromagnetic fields (EMI) generated by motors, frequency converters, and power plants.
This guarantees a minimal Bit Error Rate (BER) and zero packet loss even in the most challenging electromagnetic environments.
The outer silicone jacket ensures cable operability in a unique temperature range: from –60 °C to +180 °C (short-term excursions above the upper limit are permissible).
Arctic Installation (down to –60 °C): Unlike standard "rigid" cables that become brittle and crack in the cold, the HydITEx cable maintains full flexibility and elasticity. This prevents mechanical failure during layout and installation in extremely low temperatures without the need for time-consuming pre-heating of cable drums.
Operation in the Arab Region (High Insolation): In regions with ultra-high temperatures where solar radiation can melt plastic components (car bumpers, instrument housings), the HydITEx silicone jacket remains chemically and physically stable. The cable is suitable for open-air installation in direct sunlight; it does not "flow," become sticky, or lose its sealing form.
Industrial Heat: The cable is ideal for use near turbines, furnaces, and in hot shops. In the event of a fire, the silicone jacket does not melt, does not form flaming droplets, and does not emit toxic combustion products (LSZH — Low Smoke Zero Halogen).
A crucial aspect of high-temperature operation is the change in the physical properties of the copper conductors. Rising temperatures lead to increased signal attenuation. HydITEx provides detailed technical recommendations (Ethernet-TAMB) for correcting cable segment lengths based on ambient temperature, ensuring stable Gigabit link performance in any climate.
